Does anyone know if this game is region free on the PS3? A friend of mine is PCSing to a new base this Friday & I got him hooked on the game today, but the shop on base isn't selling it & I'd like to buy him a UK copy as a present!
So does anyone know if a UK copy would work on a US PS3 console? I only own a 360 so I'm clueless on anything PS3-related.

In less than a month on December 4th, I turn that oh-so magical age of seventeen. I have been waiting for this birthday for a long time since it means that I can finally legally purchase a M-rated game. No more awkwardly dragging my father in to provide consent (though he was a sweetie for doing so). I was going to celebrate by purchasing a game for myself but I am unsure what to get.
I am notoriously bad for remembering release dates so I was wondering if anyone knows of any games that come out around that time. It doesn't have to be M but that would make my purchase that much sweeter. I figured if I couldn't find anything, I would get Dragon Age: Origins but please, it you know of anything new and exciting that will come out around my b-day, please tell! Any system but a PC and it should be noted that I have Uncharted 2 and Modern Warfare 2. I am up for any suggestions! ANY! I want to BASK in the glory that is my seventeenth birthday!

Normally I would go consult a walk through and I tried but the ones on GameFAQs are not very detailed and don't mention a door that won't open (PSP or PSX version)

Hey everyone, a long time ago- at LEAST a year ago, I discovered a sound clip that was comprised of several voices for the characters of Final Fantasy 8. It was an EXCELLENT clip and was done incredibly well for what I was expected. Unfortunately, even though I bookmarked it, my computer fried soon after and I've had a new computer for some time now.
Thus, the bookmark is of course no longer in my archives or history and lately I've really been thinking about the clip. Have any of you heard it recently or know of a place I may be able to find it? I believe it was somewhere between four and nine minutes.

Regarding my previous post about the doll orders, I've decided to keep the $5 off each additional doll special until December 31. If you order prior to that date, then the special applies to you, however; I wouldn't use this for gift-related stuff. If you intend to use a doll as a gift, I would order prior to December 1 (preferably within the next week, because ordering immediately prior to that date might not guarantee that it'll be finished in time and shipped out, unless you don't mind a your-gift's-not-here-yet sort of situation. :P )

Ok so, I hardly ever post here, perhaps never. But, if anyone would have the answer to my question it would have to be the world of girl_gamers. Anyway, I am slowly but surely working on a site for online text based Role-Playing. This of course is based soley on Creative writing and everything. Once I get it up and going there are going to be prizes for best post of the week and whatever else. You know, incentive for good writing. Even scholarships once I get my writing foundation off the ground.
Yea, I'm a geek for writing. But then someone told me something that had me sadly dismayed. They said, "Online Text Role-Play is dead, incase you didn't know." Is that true? Do people only get involved in MUDs and MMOs? So I suppose that is the point of my inqury to find out if people even write creatively online any more or has the art truly died and I have either missed the train or completely wasted my time?

I've been looking for some good online/multiplayer Xbox 360 games so that I can justify buying an Xbox Gold subscription (I'm still looking so if you have any suggestions....). Halo 3 and CoD4 are really common recommendations, and so I was wondering - do you need to play the first games in a series in order to enjoy them?
From my own (though slightly limited) experience, I've found that you don't. I got the Orange Box last Christmas (mainly so I could play Portal), without having played Half-Life 1 and I found that didn't detract from Half-Life 2 at all. Same with Saints Row 2. What do you guys think?

So remember when I was warning everyone about the XboxLive bannings? Well apparently Microsoft isn't playing around. It has been reported that Microsoft has dropped the Ban-Hammer on between 600,000 to 1 Million consoles.
Needless to say, right now used Xbox 360s are selling for next to nothing- Craigslist is flooded with them. But be forewarned, Microsoft says "If you purchase a modified console second-hand, the warranty is not transferable and the purchaser assumes the risk for any previous modifications... If you purchase a console that has been previously banned, you will not be able to connect to (Xbox) Live.
On the other hand, if you're looking for a modded system (with no interest in going online) your in luck! Their dirt cheap and readily available.
One last thing. There have been people on Craigslist and other forums offering money to un-ban peoples systems. Don't fall for it! Honestly you're better off just buying a new 360.

Just thought I'd post here rather than reply to you all individually! I'll shell out for the Elite, I probably would have regretted getting an 'inferior' model anyway, and with the Christmas sales I'm sure it'll be more than worth it. I completely forgot about the whole 'burn the game onto the hd' thing.
Does anyone have any game recs? So far my list includes only Saints Row, GTA4 (I have it on my PC but it doesn't wanna work AT ALL), Fallout 3 (again, my PC isn't happy about that), and... the Orange Box. Just so I can play it and be thankful my PC can at least handle TF2. ;)
I'm COMPLETELY new to the Xbox scene! The original Xbox is the only "next gen" (then gen?) console I didn't own so I have no idea what titles are meant to be awesome or not. I keep seeing games I quite like the look of and then forgetting all about them because, hey, I don't have an xbox. :P

So, I just had my paper, "You Got (Steam)Punk'd: The Transformation of Victorian Science Fiction to Modern Fantasy", accepted into ICFA! Woo hoo!
For those who don't already know, ICFA is the International Conference of the Fantastic in the Arts, and it's the most awesome academic conference evar. I went a few years ago and had a great time and met some really awesome people, but haven't been able to justify going back. However, since I'll be presenting a paper this year, I am absolutely going to attend. This is good news for those who wish to see me there!
Also, if anyone is looking for someone to share a hotel room with, I definitely need a place to stay. It will probably just be me, but it could potentially also be my wife.
In other news, the funeral and the trip to Miami were all fine. It was actually one of the nicest funerals I've been to thus far, and 'nice' is not interchangeable for 'expensive'. It was just a nice service, and people said such nice things. She was 91 and had lived way longer than anyone expected, so there wasn't any wailing about how it wasn't her time... There was just a real feeling of appreciation for who she was.
The trip itself was a freaking whirlwind. We basically got there, did funeral things, then immediately left. I wish I'd had more time to actually accomplish things while I was there, but I just didn't, at all.
So now I'm back from outer space, and it's hard to get back into the swing of things.
Well, anyway, I need to go to work, so I can't ramble on for any longer. However, happy Friday the 13th, everyone!
